MEDIA RELEASE: Restoration of Rosseau Memorial Hall Begins
Seguin, ON (June 11, 2025) – After celebrating the centennial year of Rosseau Memorial Hall in 2024, Seguin Township is now focused on restoring and preserving this heritage building in line with the master plan created last year after extensive community engagement.
Rider Levett Bucknall - P2i Strategies has been hired as the project manager andERA Architects has been contracted to finalize the design based on the initial vision of the master plan. The team is currently in the pre-design phase, working on site preparation and early phases of the renovation and addition. Construction for this initial work is set to begin in January 2026 and is slated to be completed in summer 2027. This work will be funded in part through a generous $2 million bequest from the estate of Robert (Bob) Foote.
ERA Architects is also developing two options for a final schematic design to inform the next phases of the project after the initial restoration work is complete. ERA will host a community open house this summer to garner feedback on these options.
A group of local volunteers is also hard at work to fundraise the additional money required to complete the project, organizing several community events, including a summer social at Rosseau Lake College on July 12 and a fashion show later this summer. Details about these initiatives will be shared in the coming weeks.
“This building holds many memories and is beloved by residents and visitors alike,” says Seguin Township Mayor Ann MacDiarmid. “The hall is also an important symbol in Seguin, commemorating veterans and the hard work of founding members of this community, who came together to build Rosseau Memorial Hall from the ground up. The hall has been a meaningful gathering place for celebrations, the arts, and ceremonies for decades. Investing in Rosseau Memorial Hall now will ensure that these traditions and this community spirit continue for generations to come.”
