Participants shared valuable feedback on potential solutions, priorities, and next steps, which staff will consider in their analysis and recommendations going forward.

July 31, 2025 UPDATE: Seguin Township is hosting a public information session to explore the draft findings of our Waste Management Review. This in-depth assessment examines current operations, budget impacts, and the effects of Seguin’s evolving demographics. It also includes analysis of non-resident waste, cost projections, and strategies to manage rising expenses. Four potential scenarios will be presented to help streamline the Township’s waste system for improved efficiency and service.

The session will be begin with a presentation. Participants will then have an opportunity to explore information booths and speak with staff.

BACKGROUND

Seguin Township, in partnership with Dillon Consulting Limited, introduced its Solid Waste Management Strategy in 2023, outlining a 20-year plan. In 2025, an initial management review highlighted the need to explore financial challenges, operational efficiency opportunities, and alignment with the Township's vision, necessitating further public engagement.

TERMS + REFERENCES

Non-Seguin Township Resident: An individual who does not reside within the Township limits and therefore does not pay taxes to Seguin Township.

    I use the site for personal waste disposal and I’m frustrated by the number of contractor/business owners who dump materials there. I am nervous to take a picture of the license plate to report because I am unsure of repercussions. Cameras are needed so these type of violations can be mitigated

    This is an age old problem. And it has nothing to do with the fact that the site is unmanned or open 24/7 or even the dumping of items that are supose to be taken to the landfill. This is clearly a capacity issue that stems from very poor planning and scheduling. There is 20 plus years of data on the tonnage by site, by month, by commodity that is collected.
